Diana Ayala has worked for approximately two decades serving other District 8 people in social service agencies and in government, and is a strong advocate for issues such as housing, gun violence, and senior services. Read more

Diana was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and moved to New York City with her circle of relatives as a child. Growing up in social housing after some time in the shelter system, she faced many demanding situations that helped her make her voice heard and have an exclusive attitude in government and politics, and cultivate her fondness for public service.

When she was a teenage mom-to-be, the father of Diana’s son was shot dead in a senseless shootout, after which she took refuge again. Later, she entered into a new relationship that turned out to be abusive. Faced with those challenges, he discovered the private strength to restart his life, enroll in school, and earn his Associate’s degree in Social Services from Bronx Community College.

She worked as a senior middle manager in East Harlem for seven years, then joined President Melissa Mark-Viverito’s team as director of constituent services, and was deputy deputy chief of staff.

In her current role, Diana has been intellectually instrumental in crafting laws that have law, from expanding tenants’ rights to cracking down on the sale of artificial marijuana (K2). Diana has worked hand-in-hand with her constituents to address issues ranging from housing, homelessness and intellectual health, to schools, immigration and gun violence. She is a wife with people, a strong voice and a competitive champion of what she believes.

Diana lives in East Harlem with her life partner, Frankie. He has 4 children and 3 grandchildren, and also lives with two rescue dogs and 3 cats.

Inez Barron was elected to the State Assembly in November 2008, following an outstanding public service career at the New York Department of Education. Inez is the daughter of George and Margaret R. Smith, who raised her to “put God first. “Inez credits his parents for instilling in him the price of education and the pride of his African culture. For nearly fifty years, Ms. Barron has been actively engaged in protesting against civil and human injustices, such as segregation, discrimination, apartheid, the exclusion of Africa from the New York City agenda, police misconduct, and environmental racism. Inez has a long history of network activism. Inez was born into Brooklyn’s Fort Greene projects and attended New York City public schools. Education). For a brief period, Dr. Barron used her clinical experience and worked in the radioisotope laboratory of a giant hospital.

Ms. Barron began her career at the New York City Board of Education in 1967. Their philosophy is that young people deserve to be valued and motivated to succeed, and that teachers have a duty not only to provide the skills needed to be informed in life and become productive and critical members of society, but also to challenge and stimulate young people’s thinking.

For 18 years, Inez held positions of coach, adding initial elegance (primary, intermediate and school levels), reading instructor and math lab instructor. As an instructor on PS 41K, Inez was instrumental in crafting cooperative plans and implementing the first school management/shared decision-making and, through her colleagues, it was decided that she would provide the concept at U. S. Congressional hearings. In Washington, D. C. , and at the UFT convention in St. Croix, Virgin Islands. the Ministry of Education, Inez held administrative and supervisory positions, which were joined by trainer of instructors, district coordinator of early childhood, executive assistant to the network superintendent and deputy director; she retired as director.

Inez was vice president of Dynamics of Leadership, Inc. , a leadership development company founded by her husband, Councilman Charles Barron, with the purpose of empowering others through the development of their leadership skills. He has developed systems for leadership workshops and has organized education courses. sessions in universities, churches, civic organizations and business meetings in several states of the country. She is a founding member of Operation POWER (People Who Organize and Work for Empowerment and Respect), a grassroots organization whose purpose is to reshape society and advocates for the equitable distribution of goods and resources.

Since 1976, Inez has been an active member of House of the Lord Church in Brooklyn, where the Rev. Dr. Herbert Daughtry is pastor and has embraced a holistic ministry that encompasses the spiritual, political, social, and physical dimensions of life. Inez is a member of the Board of Directors, as a member of the Gospel Choir and served as Chair of the Department of Education at House of the Lord Church, which controlled House of the Lord Elementary School.

Inez’s commitment to serving the communities of Eastern New York, Brownsville and Canarsie continues as he takes office as a congressman and represents District 40 constituents with a vision on education, physical care, economic development, housing and environmental justice. Inez is an advocate for taking a step forward in transparency and accountability in government.

Chancellor Felix V. Matos Rodriguez is a Puerto Rican university administrator, most recently the 8th chancellor of the City University of New York (CUNY), the largest urban public university formula in the United States.
